Dear Friends, The early church came together across previously unimaginable social and political boundaries in the name of Jesus for mutual support, encouragement, and to grow in the knowledge and love of God. We welcome you to attend our in person worship at 9:00 a.m. on Sundays. We sincerely hope that people will feel comfortable and safe returning to in-person worship. Even so, some will not feel safe or face a greater risk, and so we will provide a Zoom link and Facebook live stream to the in-person worship as a way of keeping our community together in worship. This has been a long journey that is not quite at its end, but I am hopeful, along with the Vestry, that we will be able to travel this last stage together with a renewed sense of hope and purpose in our mission to share the love of God with all the world. Jo Glasser and Dn. Marlene Hogue will be leading Evening Prayer. This service should last about 20 minutes and is intended to supplement, not replace, your Sunday morning time with your rector or priest in charge. Instead of the Sunday Lectionary readings, he will draw upon the daily office readings. In the Zoom system's video there is a chat button. This will give you the opportunity to ask questions about the Gospel or the sermon. You will need to have a Book of Common Prayer with you to follow the service. I once asked an auditorium full of grade-school children sitting on bleachers about a weekly day of rest. "What do you think about everyone stopping one day a week? No chores. No homework. No parents going off to work. No shopping. No errands. Does this sound like a good idea?" They stared, smiling at me like I was asking if it was okay to add another Christmas to the year, or if any of them would mind being able to fly." In the last year, I have lost track of time. I don’t remember what day it is, what I am supposed to be doing, but most importantly, when I am supposed to be at work and when I am supposed to be at home since they are now the same place. After seeing Matthew Sleeth speak a few years ago, I bought this book, made a good effort at keeping a Sabbath, and found myself much happier. A year into COVID, I have forgotten my day off and desperately want to get it back. Maybe some of you need this book as much as I do. Six Mondays at noon, via Zoom, beginning February 22, to read this book together. For March 30 please read chapters 9 & 10. Purchase our Fair Trade Coffee grown in HaitiRight before the pandemic hit, we purchased our regular order of Singing Rooster Coffee, Fair Trade coffee grown in Haiti. Since we are currently not having coffee hour, we would like to make it available to you to purchase. The sales have been going so well that we now only have ground decaf remaining. The cost is $10.00 for a 12 ounce bag. We will continue to support this organization and look forward to a day when we can once again enjoy coffee hour, physically together, safely! All proceeds will be donated to The Haiti Project.
Providing Dinner for Beacon House - March 12 & 15 MOST NEEDED Tuesday, March 12 & Friday, March 15 are Christ Church Cathedral's turn to be blessed by providing dinner for the residents and overnight staff of The Beacon House (about 20 adults & kids). The food needs to be delivered to the Beacon House by 4:30 p.m. on the date you sign up for. New: sign up to stay, serve and share a meal with the residents. Beacon House staff members are taking turns covering the overnight needs. They have asked for a $70/night donation to help defray the cost of paying the staff to cover what volunteers would normally have provided. We will call for a preliminary number of adults & children we will be serving the Friday prior to our service week. Please note that the number can vary pretty extensively from day to day. If you sign up, we will contact you directly with any changes to the number of guests we are providing for. Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up. Thank you! Click on the "Sign Up Genius" link below to sign up today! If you have questions please text or call Christa Cates (715) 835-3734. Thank You So Much! Kwik Trip Cards FundraiserWe are still partnering with Kwik Trip Fundraising Card Program! As of November 1st, the program is changing slightly. They are now offering a new Grocery Only/In-Store card that we purchase at a 15% base discount. This card can be used toward in-store products. Items not eligible to be purchased with the new card offering include fuel, tobacco, alcohol, gift cars, lottery/lotto, and stamps. This allows us to take advantage of the discount at the point of purchase instead of having to wait for a rebate on grocery items. Regular and Fuel-Only gift cards are still available. We purchase these at a 5% base discount. This is a great way to support the church while purchasing the gas and/or groceries you were going to buy anyway. These cards make great gifts for your friends & family, service providers or employees!
